woke up at 5 am thanks to Mr Rooster. i wasnt very sure of the prayer time in betong. i forgot to ask mak bu.......
"ALLAHU AKBAR, ALLAHU AKBAR!"
i was told that the surau is just one house away. so yeah.. i could hear Azan loud and clear. Hani is still sound asleep so i go ahead and refresh myself to perform Subuh and maybe help Mak with the breakfast. i didn't know what time Mak woke up but as i came down to shower, she was already in the kitchen, preparing breakfast. she was only preparing drinks 'cos she said we'll have breakfast in town.
we (my family angkat and i) aint got no cars but we have 2 motorcycles. there's bapak, mak, kak siti, kak mai, adha, me and hani. guess how do we get to places?? yepp.. send one person, then fetch another at home. jangan sik ngencerik idup susah... it was a fun exeperience!
so we had to be at the school by 8 am for the program. we started off by warming up with some cute xi shua shua dance and some spanish dance.
so we played some games with the Betong kids. oh! i met joe's younger brother. kak mai said he's a little bit different from the other kids. through my observation, he's just hyperactive. he won the musical chair twice! hahah..
that nite after performing zapin johor for the closing ceremony, we went to rumah pengantin for what we sarawakian called it as "berlulut" where the bride took photos in different traditional costumes. hey, did i tell you that the bride is joe's classmate and also his sister-in-law? yes. we went to joe's elder brother's wedding. sik cukup berzapin di dewan sekolah for closing ceremony, we were asked to berzapin d rumah pengantin. ko pahammm?? yahhhh...
but let me tell you something, the best thing about kampung weddings is that the togetherness among the villagers. the celebration was a lot different from the one i've been to. meriah with the bergendang and bertandak and everything. dont really know how to put em into words. u have to be there to experience everything.
we went back to unimas on the next day. the trip was short but the most meaningful experience ever! i gained a lot from the trip. it's been like 2 months and i miss betong so much. i'll definitely go there again someday. :)
